“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” - Revelation 22:12

Day 18: March 13

Readings:

And He said to them in His teaching, Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk about in robes, and desire greetings in the marketplaces, and the first seats in synagogues, and the first places to recline at suppers; who eat up widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers; these shall receive all the more judgment. And Jesus sat opposite the treasury, and beheld how the crowd cast bronze into the treasury; and many who were rich cast in much. And there came one poor widow, and cast in two mites, which make a farthing. And having called for His disciples, He says to them, Amen I say to you that this poor widow has cast more in than all they who have cast into the treasury; but she from what she lacks did cast in all that she had, even her whole living. (Mark 12:38-43)

Those who know anything of the spiritual sense of the Word... know that heaven is for all who live a life of faith and love, whether rich or poor...man is not shut out of heaven on account of his wealth, nor received into heaven on account of his poverty. (Heaven and Hell 357)

Reflection:

We are not going to get into, or be kept out of heaven because of external circumstances like being wealthy or poor. We are judged by what we do with what we are given. Have you been envious of other people for the gifts they have been given, and discontent with your own gifts? Or have you been content and done the best with whatever you are given?
