“Peace has in it confidence in the Lord: that He directs all things, provides all things, and that He leads to a good end.” - Arcana Caelestia §8455

Summer Studies:

During the summer vacation time, to let our ministers also have a break, we have several classes based on older classes or studies.

2025—To be announced
2024—Disaster, Disease & Divine Providence

This was a three-class series on a book titled, Disease, Disaster and Divine Providence by Rev. Arne Bau-Madsen. The book offers an explanation of how events that happened on earth around the time of the Last Judgment can be understood in the context of Divine Providence.

2023—What the Heavenly Doctrine Testifies Concerning Itself

This was a four class series on What the Heavenly Doctrine Testifies Concerning Itself. The classes are based on a collection of passages first put together in 1902 by Rev. Carl Theophilus Odhner. In 1960 the Rev. Hugo Odhner published the set of passages again and wrote:

“The object in the present compilation is to present, simply and clearly, those teachings which most directly describe the nature of the revelation given through Swedenborg, who subscribed himself ‘the Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.’”
2022—Words for the New Church

This was a three class series on the 1877 three-fascicle publication called Words for the New Church (the authors were not named). This document is what got the Academy movement started and led to the establishment of the General Church.

The prologue begins: “The Heavenly Doctrines as unfolded in the Writings of Swedenborg we joyously take as our guide in conducting the serial. Indeed as we come into a more searching culture of these Writings, we discover more and more the vastness of their scope. They find us everywhere. And these Doctrines being themselves Divine are the measure of all else....What more therefore can we have...than these grand disclosures which are the final analysis of all that has respect to GOD, and to Man, and to the relation between the two?”

2021—Repentance

This summer the pastors gave three doctrinal classes based on a series of six classes on repentance by the Rt. Rev. Nathaniel D. Pendleton.
