Day 27: March 22

Readings:

And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they slaughtered the Passover, His disciples said to Him, Where will Thou that we go and prepare, that Thou may eat the Passover? And He sends out two of His disciples, and says to them, Go ye into the city, and there a man carrying a pitcher of water shall meet you; follow him. And wherever he shall enter, say ye to the householder, The Teacher says, Where is the inn, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples? And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared; there prepare for us. And His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found even as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover. And when it became evening, He comes with the twelve. And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Amen I say to you, that one of you who eats with Me shall betray Me. (Mark 14:12-18)

By the “Passover” is signified the presence of the Lord, and the liberation of those who are of the spiritual church from spiritual captivity and from damnation. (Arcana Coelestia 8017)

Reflection:

The Passover was a celebration of liberation from Egypt, and the Holy Supper is also a celebration of the being liberated from spiritual bondage. The Lord came to earth to liberate us from the spiritual captivity of evil. We prepare for Holy Supper today by identifying our evils so we can be liberated from them. What is one evil you could start to be freed from today?
