Easter is coming! What do we celebrate at Easter? We rejoice that Jesus, after being cruelly put to death, rose to life again. By His death and resurrection, the Lord showed us that He was not just a great prophet, like Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist, and others. He is God! Because of His life on earth, triumphing at Easter, we know who God is and what He is like. God is the Savior, Jesus Christ.
After His resurrection, as the disciples were meeting in a room with the doors shut, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them and said to them, “Peace be unto you.” But they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost. To reassure them, Jesus invited them to see His hands and feet (where He had been wounded), and to touch and feel Him. “A spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have,” He said to them. And He asked for some food, and ate some fish and honeycomb while they watched (Luke 24:36-43, John 20:19-20).
Jesus spoke to them saying, “All authority is given to Me in heaven and on earth… And behold, I am with you always….” (Matthew 28:18, 20)
By the things He did and said, we can see that our Lord, Jesus Christ, is fully God and fully Man. Now we know who Jehovah God is, who created us: He is the Lord. We can picture our Lord Jesus Christ when we are praying. We know who our Savior is, as we take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). It is His spirit and presence, His Holy Spirit, that comforts us, and guides us into all truth. The Lord is with us always.
May the Lord’s peace be with you this Easter.
