“The Lord God Jesus Christ reigns, whose kingdom shall be for ages of ages.” - True Christian Religion §791
Kempton New Church

December 2019

Dear Neighbor,

One of the primary teachings of the New Church is that there is one God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom is the Divine trinity. This can be seen in the New Testament especially where Jesus teaches, ”Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58), ”I and the Father are one” (John 10:30), and ”He who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).

You may have seen that this truth is also present in the prophecies of the Lord's coming in the Old Testament. Consider the following in Isaiah:

Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and shall bear a son, who shall be called God with us (Isaiah 7:14).
Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful... the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
It shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is Jehovah; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation (Isaiah 25:9).
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of Jehovah, make straight in the desert a highway for our God(Isaiah 40:3).

If talking about this idea—the oneness of God—appeals to you, please feel free to stop by or give me a call. You are also warmly welcome to join us as we celebrate the birth of the Lord, God our Savior Jesus Christ, on Christmas Eve, December 24, at 5:00 P.M., or to join us any Sunday at 10:00 A.M.

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Rev. Brett D. Buick
