“Then Joseph Did as the Angel Ordered Him”

And° Joseph, being awakened from sleep°, did as the angel of the Lord had ordered him, and took unto him his wife, and knew her not, until she brought forth her firstborn Son; and he called His name Jesus. (Matthew 1:24–25)

The good of love is heavenly, and thence mild, patient, and modest. (Apocalypse Explained 427:9)

Rational good never fights, however it is assailed; because it is mild and gentle, patient and yielding; for its character is that of love and mercy. Yet although it does not fight, it conquers all, nor does it ever think about combat, or glory on account of victory; and this because it is Divine, and is safe of itself. For no evil can attack good; it cannot even continue to exist in the sphere where good is, for when this merely approaches, evil withdraws and falls back of itself; for evil is infernal, and good is heavenly. (Arcana Cœlestia 1950:2)

When man is in a state of love, or of celestial affection, he is in an angelic state, that is to say, as if not in time, provided there is no impatience in the affection; for impatience is a corporeal affection, and insofar as man is in it, so far he is in time; but insofar as man is not in it, so far he is not in time. (Arcana Cœlestia 3827) Be still for Jehovah, And wait for Him; (Psalm 37:7)
